Muskoka’s Top “Date Night” Restaurants and Experiences

As we live in Lake of Bays, we’re often asked where our favourite restaurants are to enjoy a nice night out on the town. We’ve shared some of our favourite places to wine and dine…enjoy!

  1. Crossroads - Rosseau

Overlooking Lake Rosseau, Crossroads Restaurant provides the best dining experience in Muskoka. Hands down! Fine dining in Muskoka that is pure, simple and delicious.

Owners, Chef Richard and Julie Lalonde, ensure their ingredients are carefully selected from the finest local sources, and their creative dishes are a true culinary experience. Beautiful seasonal décor makes for a cozy atmosphere both inside the dining room and outside on the lush, flowery patio.

In the Summer months, enjoy live music on the weekends by their outdoor bar and amongst the gardens.

Crossroads is dog friendly and even have a dog menu! And yes, you can even reserve your spot on Open Table. Honestly, what’s not to love?

2. Tall Trees - Huntsville

Established in 1984, Tall Trees has enjoyed a reputation for great food, service and ambiance for over 30 years! When you arrive, you’ll walk into a century old building, filled with charm and warmth.

Here, you will enjoy dishes with multiple flavours, textures and aromas. Each meal will excite you, comfort you, or spark a memory or two. Whatever it is you decide to enjoy, we are sure you will not be disappointed.

In the Summer months, sit in their screened in Muskoka room with a view of Hunter’s Bay and in the Winter months, pre-book an outdoor, wood-fire chalet for a private dining experience. Please note, there are only 4 chalets available and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

3. Cast Iron Restaurant - Baysville

Cast Iron Restaurant was recently voted one of the top restaurants in Muskoka, and it’s only 8 minutes away from our cottage, so of course this is in our top five! Plus, this is the only place in Muskoka that you’ll find our wildlife and landscape photography showcased on the walls. Cast Iron has been a huge supporter of our photography for many years now.

They serve up quality homemade pub fare with impeccable, friendly service. Rest assured, there are no store-bought dips or dressings here!

Andrea and Tyler founded Cast Iron in 2014, after working 7 years together at Fiery Grill in Dorset; falling in love and starting their family in the charming town of Baysville. You can’t go wrong with this local classic!

4. Allora - Huntsville

Allora is the latest addition Huntsville and provides an upscale dining experience that puts a modern twist on your traditional speakeasy - a place to enjoy between meetings, when reuniting with friends or gathering with family.

Providing a fresh, locally sourced menu and unique cocktails, Allora is also home to an array of polished and delightful desserts.

5. 3 Guys And A Stove - Huntsville

The menu showcases multi-level seasoning and layered flavours, which is applied to real, honest comfort foods that are healthy, aromatic and addictingly good. Here and there you will enjoy the spice and aroma of the Caribbean, a dash of Southeast Asia or a good dose of ‘down-home southern comfort’, but whatever you eat, it will be delightfully simple…and simply delicious. Casual-fine dining, relaxed dress code, kid friendly, licensed.

3 Guys and a Stove pride themselves on their relationships local farmers and producers, utilizing naturally raised meats, poultry, wild fish, seasonal produce and honey. Farm freshness comes right from local farms to the forks!

Their Weekend Marché Breakfast is the cherry-on-top.

6. The Old Station - Bracebridge

Since it’s days as Bracebridges’ central service and gas station, it’s held two restaurants. Since 1985, The Old Station has resided in this historic building, with owner Mike Warr at the helm. Now in 2022, Mike Warr and son Owen Warr still own and operate The Old Station, which has become a staple and iconic stop to Bracebridge locals and tourists.

They offer a quality dining experience in an atmosphere that is purely Muskoka. Guests are in awe as they walk into a room encompassed in wood, with a large maple tree trunk as the focal point of the room.

Join them by the fireplace in the chilly Winter or on the wrap around street-view patio in the warm Summer months.

Their menu accommodates even the pickiest of eaters, with a separate kids menu for the little ones.

Muskoka Ice Caves - Rosseau (SEASONAL)

Dine in the soft glow of a transparent, fully-enclosed “ice cave” on the terrace of JW Marriot, overlooking Lake Rosseau. Catch the scent of the grill as your chef prepares delicacies over a charcoal cauldron. This extraordinary two-hour dining experience is available on weekends. Two reservations time per day; 4:45pm and 7:15pm, minimum of 2 people per cave.

Northern Lights Charcuterie Co.

Kelly crafts elevated and lavishly curated custom charcuterie boards from her home in Huntsville.

Northern Lights Charcuterie Co. is able to curate boards for 3-4 people ($60); 5-6 people ($110) and 10 people ($200). Her boards include a variety of cheese, meat, veggies, fruit and other sweet snacks. She’s also able to make bread bowls, smoked bacon wrapped Oreo’s and other items upon request.
