Algonquin Park - Wildlife & Landscape Photography Workshops
Private workshops for up to 3 people.
Real coaching. Real wildlife. Real results.
You’ve spent hours watching YouTube tutorials. You’ve memorized settings, read blogs, followed the advice. But when the moment finally arrives, everything falls apart.
The light is golden. A moose steps into view. You lift your camera. Your heart races. You press the shutter.
Blurry.
Out of focus.
Underexposed.
And just like that, the moment’s gone. The photo doesn’t match the feeling. The magic didn’t make it into the frame.
This workshop is where that all changes!
Instead of more theory, you’ll get hands-on experience. Real conditions. Real wildlife. Real-time coaching while you’re in the moment. No more second-guessing. No more figuring it out later.
This isn’t just about improving your camera skills. It’s about building confidence, deepening your connection to nature, and creating images that reflect what you felt out there. Whether you're just getting started or you’ve been at this for a while, this workshop meets you where you are.
Choose Your Experience
All workshops are private. Just you, and/or up to two friends. No strangers added, no rushing, no compromise.

Your laminated Field Tips Card, mailed to you before your workshop date
Real-time coaching tailored to your camera, your goals, and your pace

Extreme weather flexibility and re-booking without penalties. However, we don’t cancel for basic rain, fog, or snow. Some of the best images of the year come from exactly those conditions.
No egos. No rushing. Just time in the field with people who love this as much as you do.
What You’ll Learn
By the end of your time with us, you’ll know how to:
Move beyond auto mode and take full control of your settings
Capture sharp, powerful wildlife images even when subjects are moving
Understand light and how to use it to your advantage in natural settings
Compose stronger, more intentional photographs
Use slower shutter speeds to create softness and motion in waterfalls
Anticipate wildlife behaviour and shoot ethically and respectfully
Tell a story with your photos instead of just documenting a scene
Slow down, notice more, and create with purpose
No egos, all fun.
*We love moose as much as you do, but just to be clear, we’re not a “wildlife Uber.” Our workshops are full photography experiences that focus on wildlife, while also exploring landscapes and, if timing allows, photographing waterfalls along the way. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but we’ll give you the best opportunities while helping you grow your skills, build confidence with your camera, and connect more deeply with nature. These workshops are designed for people who want both the experience and the education. If that sounds like you, we’d love to work with you!
Day 1 - Your Full Day in Algonquin
We begin at sunrise and stay until the light fades or you’re ready to call it a day, whichever comes first. The entire day is built around your comfort, curiosity, and goals. No rushing between stops. No agenda that doesn’t serve you.
You’ll receive real-time guidance on camera settings, lens choices, composition, lighting, wildlife behaviour, and creative decision-making, all in the moment, on-location, and tailored to your pace.
Most guests stay near Huntsville, Ontario, about 30 minutes from Algonquin’s West Gate. After booking, we’ll send you the exact meeting location and everything you need to prepare.
Day 2 - The Aspen Valley Morning
Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Ontario's largest wildlife rehabilitation centres, and it's been a meaningful part of what we do since 2019.
Since that first visit, Follow Me North guests have contributed over $20,000 directly to the sanctuary's work. Every booking that includes an Aspen Valley morning adds to that. The animals being cared for there, bears, foxes, wolves, moose and more, are alive and recovering in part because people like you chose to show up with a camera and a generous heart.
On the morning of day two, you'll have private VIP photography access at the sanctuary, four hours of unhurried time with rescued wildlife. No large tour groups. No distractions. Just you, your camera, and animals that have been given a second chance.
It’s a peaceful environment where the learning from day one can be put to the test, and the access is unlike anything available to the general public.
When you book an experience that includes Aspen Valley, a $465 donation goes directly to the sanctuary on your behalf. You're not just coming to photograph. You're coming to help.
Photographing With Ethics
We love wildlife, and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. We wouldn’t want it any other way. We don’t bait, feed, or pressure animals for the sake of a photo. What we offer is the experience, knowledge, and awareness to help you recognize patterns, read behaviour, and return to nature with a more trained and ethical eye.
Even if an animal doesn’t appear, you’ll leave with new skills, renewed focus, and the confidence to return to Algonquin Park or any wild place with purpose and preparation. The goal isn’t to fill a checklist. It’s to build a lasting relationship with the landscape and learn how to see what’s always been there.
If you’re after guaranteed moose selfies, this might not be the right fit. But if you’re looking for a deeper, more meaningful experience with your camera and the natural world, we’d love to guide you through it.
Over 50 five-star Google reviews and counting.
Here’s what people say after a day in the field with us.
F.A.Q.
What's guaranteed?
Wildlife is never guaranteed, and that’s what keeps it honest. We don’t bait, stage, or rush anything for the sake of a photo. What we can promise: you’ll likely learn more in one day than you expected, and you’ll leave with a stronger connection to both your camera and nature.
How much experience do I need?
None. Whether you’re just starting out or have some experience, but want more clarity and confidence, this workshop is designed to meet you where you are.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. Each booking is fully private and includes up to two additional guests at no extra charge, three people total. Bring a partner, a friend, or a fellow photographer. The experience is tailored to all of you.
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
We don’t cancel for weather unless it’s genuinely unsafe. Fog, rain, snow, and overcast skies produce some of the most dramatic images of the year. If rescheduling is necessary, we’ll work with you to find a new date.
How long is the workshop?
We start at sunrise and wrap around sunset. The pace is gentle and flexible. You decide when to take breaks or call it a day.
Where do we meet?
We’ll send the exact location once your booking is confirmed. Most guests stay in or near Huntsville, Ontario.
Is food provided?
No. Please bring your own food, water, and snacks. We build in time to eat and rest.
Can I join if I’m visiting from outside of Canada?
Yes. Many of our guests visit us from around the world . We recommend booking a rental vehicle in advance as there is no public transit in the park.
What’s the cancellation policy?
All workshop fees are non-refundable. However, bookings are transferable. If something comes up, we’re happy to reschedule with as much notice as possible, depending on availability.
What kind of camera should I bring?
Any DSLR or mirrorless camera is great. If you’re unsure, just reach out and we’ll help you decide what to bring.
Do I need a tripod?
Bring it if you have one. It’s especially helpful for waterfalls and low-light scenes. If you don’t have one, that’s okay, too. We’ll work with whatever gear you have.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. Just reach out and we’ll send you a digital or mail you a gift certificate for any of the three experiences.
Will I learn editing too?
Field photography is the focus of all three workshops. If you’d like to go further, The Full Immersion includes a private in-person Image Review and Edit Session in Lightroom on the afternoon of day two, using your actual images from the trip.
What are the physical requirements?
Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and accessible. While there are some short walks on uneven terrain and a few hikes to breathtaking lookout points, we understand that not everyone prefers extensive walking or hiking. We won’t be hiking for many hours at a time, so you can feel at ease. We’ll customize each itinerary based on you and your guests’ abilities and interests, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
What should I bring to the workshop?
Gear up according to your preferences. Every guest finds value and learning opportunities, whether using a camera phone, a DSLR, or a mirrorless camera. Here’s a general list of recommended gear to enhance your experience: DSLR or mirrorless camera body, wide-angle lenses for landscapes, telephoto lenses for wildlife, sturdy tripod, ND filters and polarizers (optional but can be helpful), extra batteries and memory cards, seasonal clothing, headlamp, rain protection, bug jacket, sunscreen, water bottles and snacks, proper footwear for the season, crampons in icy conditions.
Please note: Not all items are required. We’ll discuss specific recommendations before your workshop date to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
